HVAC Duct Cleaning in Venice, FL

Why Venice ducts load up with dust, sand and moisture

The cause is almost always humid attic air. Flex duct runs through vented attics. Return plenums leak at the seams. The system pulls hot, damp attic air straight in. That air carries blown-in insulation fiber and fine sand. Both settle inside supply runs and on the coil.

Older housing stock adds its own problem. Fiberglass ductboard plenums and trunks were common through the 1970s to 1990s. Aged ductboard goes friable and sheds. You see gray fuzz at the register edges. Some 1950s and 1960s ranch homes have slab-embedded or under-slab ducts. Those flood. Standing water sits in them. That is the musty odor nobody can locate.

Before cleaning, we look at the real condition. Crushed flex in tight attic runs. Branch takeoffs disconnected and lying in insulation. Sweating boots staining ceiling drywall. Mold on the fiberglass return plenum at the air handler. Deteriorated inner liner.

Cleaning a shedding ductboard trunk is not worth doing. Neither is cleaning under-slab duct that still holds water. We will say so. Replacement or abandonment is the honest answer there.

If far rooms never cool and indoor humidity stays high, suspect leakage and crushed runs first, not dirt.
