Air Duct Repair in Venice, FL

Air duct repair in Venice homes

One room never cools. The thermostat reads cold, yet the air feels damp. Long runtimes. High indoor humidity. A musty smell near the return. Those symptoms usually trace to the ductwork, not the condenser. We start in the attic with a light and a mirror.

Flex duct dominates here, 1980s to present. In tight attic runs it gets crushed or kinked. Sometimes it pulls off a takeoff entirely. A disconnected branch lying in blown insulation dumps cold air into the attic and pulls fibers back into supply runs. Sand shows up inside more often than people expect. Ductboard plenums from the 1970s through 1990s get friable with age and shed. Fiberglass return plenums at the air handler are where mold shows first.

Leaking return plenums are the quiet problem. They draw hot humid attic air straight into the system. That is why the house stays sticky.

Some 1950s and 1960s ranch homes on slab have ducts buried under the floor. Those flood. Standing water sits there and the odor never leaves. Those jobs get abandoned and rerouted overhead, not patched.

Sweating boots staining ceiling drywall means the collar insulation failed. Repair the seal, not the drywall.
